The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School

A Church of England School

Uniform Expectations and School Shop

If you wish to order any school uniform orders, please email it to schoolshop@bhbs.hereford.sch.uk

All orders will be prepared and you will be contacted to arrange collection.

Please help us to ensure high standards of dress and appearance by providing a full uniform for your son/daughter in accordance with our uniform code (see attachment below and the BHBS Behaviour Policy 2024 Appendix 1).

This is summarised below but if you are unsure about an item please contact the school office for an up to date uniform code.

Please discourage your son/daughter from wearing a hoodie to school as a jumper or coat. If seen between 8.30 a.m. and 3.20 p.m. they will be confiscated.

UNIFORM

Warm coats should be worn to and from school. They can be worn in the building but must be removed when entering a classroom and placed over the chair.  Hoodies can’t be worn on the school site.

Tailored unisex shorts are also available which have the school initials. No other designs will be accepted.

Blazer:

Blazers are compulsory and should be worn at all times in the building unless a member of staff gives permission for them to be removed.
Tie:  Students should wear the school’s navy with a maroon and gold stripe tie, Bishop's reward tie, or Bishop's prefect tie. The knot should be pulled up to the top of the collar and must be kept smart and tidy.
Sweater: Sweaters are an optional item which must be navy and V-neck in design.
Shirt: Pale blue, worn tucked in at the waist. The top button should be done up, so please make sure that the neck size is appropriate. The shirt can be long or short sleeved in length.
Skirt: Regulation tartan school skirt, all skirts have a minimum length of 20”, in exceptional circumstances, the school will authorise and sell an 18” skirt – any alternatives are not acceptable (regulation school skirts are available from the school shop). Skirts should not be rolled up. The bottom of the skirt should be as close to the top of the knee as possible.
Trousers: Black or dark grey straight cut (smart, not casual, no drainpipe style – not jeans, cords, denims)
Socks: Black socks (ankle or knee length) or tights. No coloured patterns visible when shoes are worn.

PE Kit

All students, regardless of gender, will need the same compulsory items as our Curriculum includes a very broad range of activities for all. Where there is a choice of item it doesn’t matter what gender you are as to which you select. Please see PE Kit list in attachments below.

Compulsory items are all available from club sport in Hereford or on their website. ALL students will need a polo shirt, socks, long sleeved reversible top and skort or shorts - all of these are Bishop's items. Students also need a gum shield, shin pads, Football or Rugby boots and trainers.

In addition, there is the choice of some optional items - track pants with Bishop's logo, leggings with Bishop's logo, 1/4 zip fleece  all of which must be regulation items. Students can also wear a navy base layer under Bishop's items.
