Mathematics
Mathematics is regarded as a vital subject by employers and further education institutions. Many mathematical techniques are needed in other subject areas both at GCSE and beyond. Students will be well prepared for further study in Mathematics if that is their intention.
All students study Mathematics from Year 7 to 11.
The Key Stage Three course combines traditional Mathematics with a more functional type of Mathematics, dealing with real world problems and investigations.
In Key Stage Four, students follow the GCSE Edexcel Linear Course, with three examinations at the end of Year 11. This may be at the Higher tier (grades 9 to 4) or the Foundation tier (grades 5 to 1).
All students have ‘MyMaths’ logins, allowing them to access a vast amount of revision materials, mathematical games and online tasks at home or school.
